Today we were really into loose parts play. We started out playing with our coin-in-slot fine motor activity. This inspired the children to find other items in our cabinets. We enjoyed playing with the hair curlers, pick-up-sticks and pipe cleaners. It was fun to stick the curlers inside each other and string the sticks and pipe cleaners through the holes. This expanded even further into another fine motor activity: stringing beads. It is wonderful to see the children increase their attention spans and creativity thinking during free play.
Outside the changing season is becoming more obvious. Leaves have really started to fall on our playground and the children enjoyed observing the wind bring more leaves down into our mud kitchen.
We pulled the AirFort back out today. Friends brought toys into the fort to play with. We also brought in our music scarves and enjoyed watching them blow in the gentle breeze from the fan.
At the art table, we read the Three Little Pigs while using collage pieces representing straw, sticks, and bricks. We talked about what different houses can be made out of. The children were very interested in using the glue brushes on their papers.
Shabbat Shalom!
