Thanksgiving and a New Friend!

Today we began tying in Thanksgiving with our Home and Family exploration! At snack, we read Thanks for Thanksgiving and talked a little bit about what it means to be thankful. Our children seemed to be thankful for their snacks and their naps today! They did transition well from the time change and it did not take long for us to get everyone down at nap. We also welcomed a new friend to our class. Maeve will be joining us on Mondays and Fridays and has already become a great addition to our class.

The children loved our dramatic play baking activity today! This is really the first time we have seen so many of our friends participate in this kind of functional play. Many of our friends spent most of the morning pretending to pour different ingredients into the bowls and mix them up to make pies and other goodies for Thanksgiving. We will be adding to this invitation throughout the next week.

Our sensory bin was full of feathers and colanders this morning. The children practiced their fine motor skills as they tried to make the turkey feathers fit in the holes of the colanders.

Painting with feathers was another fun invitation this morning! We heard lots of colors named and giggles as the orange and red paint mixed.

Mondays are our busiest days in Katon! Not only do we have our time in the light studio but we also go to the gym to work on our gross motor skills.

We are looking forward to seeing where the children take our invitations this week!
