We continued our exploration of farm animals today with some fun invitations!
This was our animal rescue. The children had so much fun with this fine motor work that we didn't even get a chance to get pictures of them rescuing the animals! This is also a fun activity to do at home if you are looking to keep your little one entertained for a bit. We "trapped" the animals with masking tape, but you can also use painter's tape. The children then used their pincer grasp to remove the tape from the animals.
Another invitation was "shearing" a sheep. We started off working with the children to practice their scissors skills, but they found it was so much easier to use their fingers and hands. They had so much fun taking the cotton balls off the sheep and then putting them back on.
At our art table, we used bath poofs to add cow spots to our tractor painting from Monday. Later, the children decided that we needed to use some stickers to make it more colorful.
So many of our Katon friends are getting really confident in their climbing skills. We always ask "Do you feel safe?" while they are climbing to gauge their comfort levels. They are all getting stronger and gaining more control over their muscles. They are also learning when it's time to ask for help.
After lunch, we brought out a toddler favorite: bubbles! It has been a long time since we have used our bubbles, and the children were super excited to try to catch and pop them.
We are looking forward to more farm fun the rest of this week!
