Welcome back!

We were so excited to see our friends this morning! Everyone hopped right back in to learning and playing. We began our exploration on Winter through the lens of the book The Mitten.

Using Kinetic Sand, we made snowflakes using tanagrams.  We took turns making different patterns, naming the shapes and the colors!

Our little engineers love science experiments.  Today, we created a snowstorm in a jar using: baby oil, water, white paint, glitter and Alka-Seltzer.  We took turns adding the Alka-Seltzer to the jar to make the snowballs fly around in the jar.  This was a great opportunity to talk about the core words fast and slow, up and down, and in.  After our experiment was over, some friends brought paper and crayons over to the table to draw what they saw!

Using the animal prints found in The Mitten we stamped animal tracks on a piece of paper at the art table.  Throughout the week we will add to this paper to create a beautiful collage! At our easel, we used water color paint to reveal winter themed images.
