Castles and Groggers

This has been another fun-filled week in Katon! Yesterday, we visited the Art Atelier. The children got to explore making sand castles with kinetic sand and used shaving cream as mortar between foam blocks to make castles.

When we returned to the classroom, we brought out the paint to paint plastic bottles. These are going to become our groggers that will be coming home over the next couple of days! The children decided to have lots of fun mixing all the paint colors.

We also continued working on our recognition of shapes by making shape castles on contact paper.

Today, our children who were not here yesterday got to paint their bottles for their groggers and we filled the bottles with the colored rice we made earlier in the week. Since it was such a nice day, we took this activity outside!

Back inside, we visited the new obstacle course in the BMR. The children used their gross motor skills to balance, climb, and crawl. They were mesmerized by the light tunnel, and pretended to ride the pool noodle horses.
