We are so excited to have our blog back so we can share all the wonderful things your children are exploring each day!
We mixed red and yellow paint in bags. We asked the children to observe what happened when they mixed those two colors. Some of our friends decided they wanted to add some extra lines with markers. We loved this creative take on this activity!
Another invitation was centered on working on our sorting and classifying skills. Children were asked to sort small, medium, and large pumpkins. We are just in the beginning stages of this concept but were delighted to find that the children were able to identify the differences in size at least between the large and small pumpkins.
One of the most fun activities we did today was getting to see what is inside a pumpkin! We cut open the pumpkins we washed yesterday and let the children explore the seeds and "guts." Some of our friends loved getting their hands in the pumpkin. Others were happy to just observe from a distance. We will be using the seeds from the pumpkins and the pumpkin shells for a special science exploration in our outdoor classroom tomorrow!
We are seeing more evidence of parallel play, even with our littlest friends! These friends were even able to take turns without adult encouragement. This is an exciting development for us to see, as our students are moving from solitary play to these social interactions!
