Things that Go!

As we finished up our fall units, we noticed the children being drawn more and more to vehicles.  While we've mostly had cars in our classroom, we've now introduced all types of vehicles into the class. Playing with vehicles is a wonderful way for your child to explore and learn  how the world works.  Dumping, building, transporting and breaking down are all ways our little engineers work hard at learning about their world.

We used craft sticks to build train tracks, roads, and runways.

W: "Car!"

We used cars and paint to leave tracks on paper!

Doing puzzles with vehicles to work on matching skills and hand-eye coordination!

Our little learners have really enjoyed our fine motor invitations.  Today, we worked on strengthening our hands by pulling apart milk caps that were Velcroed together.  This activity allows us to use our ever so important pincher grasp and coordinate with other muscle groups in our hands and arms.  Fine motor play has also been a great opportunity for parallel play and turn taking time.  Everyone loves to come play together when the fine motor activities come out!

Today was also our day in the Light Studio.  Everyone enjoyed our continued fall theme.  We even found vehicles in the studio to play with!

E: "Cow!"

G: "Ball!"

Gym Mondays continues to be a place we love to explore.  We spend our time working on our gross motor skills.  Today was all about throwing/kicking balls, climbing, driving, and pushing!
