Thursday we made circle pictures inspired by Kandinsky's "Squares with Concentric Circles." The children practiced using glue sticks to glue circles on to their papers.
"Glue!"
"It sticks!"
Today, we put all our different painting techniques from the week together for a piece of collaborative art. The children used brushes, recycled gift cards, shape blocks, and sponges. They stamped, scraped, and spread the paint on the paper.
Later, one of our friends returned to the table and noticed that the piece of paper towel he had picked up the wet paint. He experimented with running the paper towel through the paint and dabbing the paint back onto blank spots on the paper.
The children have been enjoying our shape sorters again, so we brought more of them out to add to their fun. A good 10 minutes (or an hour in toddler time) was spent trying out the different shape sorters, experimenting with which shapes fit in which box, and then finding the corresponding holes for the shapes.
Next week we will be reviewing colors as we start a big project for Passover!
